On Monday, January 10 the Woburn Public Library Trustees went before the Liaison Committee of the City Council to present the case for the Library’s building project. If you were unable to attend, or to watch the meeting on television, you can view the presentation by downloading the files here. Library Director Kathleen O’Doherty presented a photo essay on the Library’s needs and the building’s lack of ADA accessibility. Board of Trustees President Janet Rabbitt spoke about the Building Project’s history and the cost to the city. Asst. Reference/Young Adult Librarian Christi Showman Farrar talked about the future of libraries in the digital age and how Internet usage is up 700%. Finally, Library Trustee and Building Committee Chair Richard Mahoney spoke about the cons of applying for the next state grant round (and giving back the guaranteed $5M grant the library has been awarded).
Schematic plans and images of the proposed addition can be viewed at the Library or on the Library’s flickr page.
