Leather Union Army cartridge or "belly" box; cast brass "US" oval on front of box; interior front flap stenciled with "J.E. Tidd;" interior compartment has tin boxes for holding cartridges; loops on back for attaching to belt; front brass knob closure.
Notes:
The interior stenciled name indicates that this belonged to Captain John Edgell Tidd (1839—1906) of Woburn.
