There is a ton to do at the library for volunteers of different ages and skill levels. Whether you need YES Hours, National Honor/Junior Honor Society hours, or simply love the library and want to help out, we will do our best to find a task suited for you.
Due to the large amount of volunteer requests and different requirements, we announce opportunities for volunteering, big or small, through the Remind App.
The Remind App is a text-based communication platform used by teachers & schools to keep your information private.
The WPL Teen Room uses the Remind App to post general volunteer opportunities at the library. Spots will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please use the following form to SIGN UP for the Remind App and volunteer hours. Once you fill out the form you will receive an auto-generated response with instructions to join the WPL Teen Volunteers Remind group.
You can unsubscribe from the Remind App at any time.
Do you want to help elementary kids with their reading?
Book Buddies is a volunteer program for high school students (grades 9-12 or equivalent) to read with elementary school students (grades K-5 or equivalent) to encourage literacy and confidence. We are looking for friendly, patient high school volunteers who enjoy working with kids and have strong reading skills.
Book Buddies meets on Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30pm in the WPL Children’s Room. By signing up to be a Book Buddy, you are committing to being able to volunteer at least 2 Wednesdays a month (more is fine too!).
Once you fill out the form, you will be contacted by a library staff member for confirmation.
Need a guaranteed volunteer hour fast? Attend a Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meeting!
TAB meets the 3rd Monday of Every Month @ 4:30-5:30pm. Together we decide what happens at YOUR library. Concerns, comments, or ideas for Teen events and programming? Have your voice heard here!
Check the calendar to see when the next TAB Meeting is. TAB Meetings are recommended for students in grades 7-12.
If, for whatever reason, volunteering at the library isn’t for you, here are some organizations in the Woburn area that might be looking for teen volunteers:
