Edwin F. Wyer, a resident of Woburn, enlisted at age 28, on June 13, 1861, as a Private in Company I, 5th Regiment Massachusetts Infantry, mustering in on July 4, 1861. He mustered out on July 31, 1861. He also enlisted as 1st Sergeant, age 29, in Company E, 5th Regiment Massachusetts Infantry on September 1, 1862, mustering in on Sept. 16, 1862, mustering out on July 2, 1863. He also enlisted at age 31 and was commissioned as 1st Lieutenant in Company G, 5th Regiment Massachusetts Infantry on July 25, 1864 and mustered in on July 27, 1864. He was promoted at age 31 to Adjutant Field & Staff in the 5th Regiment Massachusetts Infantry on August 24, 1864, from 1st Lieutenant of Company "G" mustering out on November 16, 1864.

Born: Cambridge Sept. 28, 1832. Son of George and Mary Rice.
Married: Abbie A. Farrar of Woburn, Nov. 24, 1864. 2nd Mary A. (Bartlett) Cobson of Woburn Apr. 4, 1889.
