Edward Hoskins, a resident of Woburn employed as a laborer, enlisted at age 18, on Jan. 1 1864, as a Private in Company K, 39th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, mustering in on the same day. He was taken prisoner on Aug. 19, 1864 at Weldon Road, Virginia, and paroled on Oct. 9, 1864. He was transfered on June 2, 1865 to Company A, 32nd Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers. He mustered out on June 29, 1865.

Married: Mary Gillespie of Woburn, Jan. 10, 1872.
