Luke R. Tidd, a Woburn resident and shoe manufacturer, enlisted at age 39, in Company K, 39th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers and was commissioned 1st Lieutenant on July 22, 1862, mustering in on August 22, 1862. He was taken prisoner on August 19, 1864 at Weldon Railroad and exchanged on February 23, 1865. He was commissioned Captain on April 3, 1865 but not mustered in. He was mustered out on June 2, 1865 as 1st Lieutenant.

Born: Woburn, May 5, 1822 s. Luke & Ann Richardson.
Died: Woburn, Aug. 15, 1893.
Buried in Woodbrook Cemetery, Birch Path, Lot 327.
