Alonzo D. Carpenter, a currier from Woburn, enlisted at age 32, on July 22, 1862, as a Private in Company K, 39th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers, mustering in on August 22, 1862. He was wounded on April 4, 1865 in the Appomattox Campaign and was discharged for his wounds on June 28, 1865.

Born: St. Albans, Vt. Feb. 17, 1831, s. Moses & Mary Brown.
Married: Nellie F. Leslie of Woburn, Aug. 23, 1859.
Issue: William F. (1860) Cora E. (1862) Maria A. (1866) Jennie I. (1868) Jessie L. (1869) Edith M. (1872) Nellie M. (1873).
Died: Woburn, June 9, 1915.
Note: Buried in Woodbrook Cemetery. Graves Ave, Lot 1213.
