Service Record:
George H. Bancroft, a resident of Wilmington MA whose occupation was yeoman, enlisted as a Private at age 17, on Aug. 19, 1862, in Company D, 50th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers, mustering in on Sept. 19, 1862. He mustered out on Aug. 24, 1863 at Wenham, MA. He also served as Private in Company D, 59th Massachusetts Volunteers, enlisting on January 2, 1864 and mustering in on January 28, 1864. On June 1, 1865 he transferred to Company D, 57th Massachusttes Volunteers, mustering out on July 30, 1865 at at Delaney House, Washington, DC.

Born: Wilmington, Jan. 14, 1845 s. Harrison & Hepzibah Jones.
Married: Sarah E. Cutter of Woburn, Aug. 19, 1868.
Died: Woburn, May 2, 1894.
Note Buried in Woodbrook Cemetery, Union Path, Lot 4 (1232). Listed as "George" in State records. Not on Woburn Quota.
