Service Record:
James Frederick Leslie, a Woburn resident employed as a clerk, enlisted at age 21 as a Private in Company K, 39th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers on July 21, 1862 and mustered in on Aug. 22, 1862. He was taken prisoner on Aug. 19, 1864 at Weldon Railroad, Viginia and exchanged on November 25, 1864. He mustered out on June 2, 1865.

Born: Portsmouth, N.H. Dec. 15, 1841 s. Daniel & Maria Francis.
Married: Abby A. Hortshorn of Woburn, Apr. 1870.
Issue: Grace M (1874)
Died: Woburn, Sept. 2, 1917.
Note: Buried in Woodbrook Cemetery, Highland Ave., Lot 788.
