gershon ben keren

Gershon Ben Keren

Gershon Ben Keren instructs on a variety of topics, stemming from his professional background in the security industry, and academic background (a Master’s Degree in Psychology and a second Master’s Degree in Criminology/Criminal Psychology). He is a member of both the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Society of Criminology (ASC).

Gershon holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in Krav Maga (the hand to hand combat system of the IDF), and is the bestselling author of Krav Maga: Real World Solutions to Real World Violence, Krav Maga: Tactical Survival, and Krav Maga: Extreme Survival, and was inducted into the Israeli Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Hertzliya, Israel in 2010. Gershon is the Head of the Krav Maga Yashir System, and runs a full-time Krav Maga school in Woburn, MA.

Gershon is a co-founder of SEPS (Situations Effective Protection System), a system for predicting, preventing, and avoiding violence. The SEPS system was born out of a desire to bring operative-level security training to civilians, so that they can learn to make effective dynamic risk assessments, and formulate solutions, to a wide variety of threats and attacks. By teaching to a framework, the audience is left with strategies which can be applied to their lives, in a way that increases their personal safety and security on a daily basis, in the same way that a professional close protection operative, (or bodyguard), would run protocols to protect a client.

buffy the three legged pit bull

Ewa Erdman

Woburn resident (and Buffy’s owner) Ewa Erdman will be selling her book for $10.  All sale proceeds are donated to animal shelters.  Cash only.  If you have time, if you have questions, if you are interested… there are endless stories to share about Buffy’s remarkable life journey.  Please note that there were three Boston Globe Sunday Magazine articles written about her.

For Children:  This 28 page, fully illustrated book, presents the life of Buffy, from being disabled, abandoned and unwanted, to a life of warmth, love, and dedicated service to others.  This true story is serious in some aspects, but Buffy is funny, spunky, and mischievous throughout.

For Adults:  All the anecdotes in the book are true, but written for children. Therefore, no details of her backstory are in the book, but adults and older children will understand the messages of discrimination, judging based on appearance, condemning based on stereotypes, and other life lessons.  This book will interest ages 4 -94.

laura hatosy

Laura Hatosy

Laura was born in NJ, which means she has to fight her genetic predisposition for big hair and pork roll.

After attending Rutgers University, she moved to Massachusetts with her high school sweetheart. They’ve been married since 1997. Awwww. Old people are so cute.

She got her Masters degree at Harvard University and taught high school history for several years. It was while teaching the Holocaust curriculum, Facing History and Ourselves, that she learned about the story of  Terezin, the camp on which Drawn from Memory is based.

She left the workforce to care and advocate for her two children, Bella and Jake–no Twilight relation– both of whom are on the autism spectrum.

She lives in Massachusetts and is currently eating a pork roll sandwich.
