Technology

WiFi

    • Two levels of free wireless internet access are available throughout the library: Woburn Public Library doesn’t require a password and is handy for basic web surfing. WuFi is the more robust internet that is recommended for heavy internet users who stream music and video. The WiFi password is Tanners01801.

    • In order to use the wireless service, you need a laptop computer or other wireless device with a properly configured wireless network interface card.

  • For Wireless Internet access at HOME or anywhere in the CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES, check out one of our WiFi Hotspots. These Hotspots must be picked up at and returned to the Woburn Public Library’s Circulation Desk. The checkout period is two weeks, after which a $5 per day fee is assessed. The replacement cost for each Hotspot is $100.

Public Computers

    • Public desktop computers provide internet access and Microsoft Office software.  Users must sign-in to a computer with a library card or guest pass. Time limits may apply. The library’s Internet Access Policy can be found here.

    • Users of the library’s public computers may save files to their own flash drives.

Laptop Computers

    • Laptops may be checked out by patrons for library use. These laptops can only be used within the library for two hours at a time.

    • Laptops can only be checked out with a valid library card. Guest passes cannot be used on library laptops.

Printing and Photocopying

    • Black & white printing and photocopying is available from the public computers, the library’s laptops, and from patrons’ own personal devices for a charge of 15 cents per page.

    • Color printing and photocopying is available from the public computers and from the library’s laptops, and from patrons’ own personal devices for a charge of 35 cents per page.

    • After being sent, print jobs are accessible for 24 hours. After that they are automatically deleted from the print queue and would need to be sent again. Patrons are not charged for print jobs that are not printed.

Print from Anywhere

    • Need to send a print job from home? Want to print from your personal device?  Here’s how.

 Scanning

    • Reference Librarians are available to assist you with scanning a document to your flash drive or email, at no charge.

 Newspaper Microfilm

    • Back issues of Woburn newspapers are available on microfilm. A microfilm (reel/fiche) reader/printer is located in the Fri Printing is 25 cents per page.

 Faxing

    • Faxing is available at the Business Center next to the Reference Desk, at $1.00 for the first page and 25¢ for each additional page. 

 Device Advice

    • Library staff is available to assist you with downloading e-books and e-audio books to your tablet, smartphone, Apple devices, etc.
