Artist Statement
Through my lens, I use my intuition to capture the beauty and stories hidden within the streets and landscapes of our world and present them as windows into the cultures and lives of people around the globe. Viewers will gain a deeper appreciation for the diversity of our world and a greater understanding of the common threads that bind us all together.

Photography for me, is more than just a hobby or a profession; it’s a way of life. I love the thrill of chasing the perfect shot and the joy of freezing a moment in time forever. Whether I’m wandering through the narrow alleys of Europe or taking in a bustling Asian city from the back of a taxi, my camera is always by my side, ready to capture the magic that surrounds me. Join me on this journey of discovery, and together, let’s explore the world one global click at a time.

Description of the Exhibition
Her new exhibition, “Portugal Unveiled: Through the Doors of Time”, invites viewers to explore the symbolism of Portugal’s vintage doors and reflect on the doors they encounter daily – the opportunities that present themselves, the challenges that may seem like closed doors, and the potential for growth and change. Through this exhibition, Liz encourages everyone to see vintage doors, like opportunities that may sometimes be hidden or overlooked, blending into the backdrop of our lives. Just as each vintage door in Portugal holds a unique story, each opportunity that comes our way carries the promise of a new chapter in our own journey. Embracing the unknown behind these doors can lead us to moments of beauty, understanding, and self-discovery that we may never have
imagined possible.

Liz has exhibited in solo shows for her previous exhibition titled “Portugal 41” at Winnekenni Castle (Haverhill, MA), Chelmsford Public Library (Chelmsford, MA), Trescott Street Gallery (Taunton, MA), a three-person show at the Gleason Public Library (Carlisle, MA), and recently with “Portugal Unveiled: Through the Doors of Time” at the Lunenburg Public Library (Lunenburg, MA) and Billerica Public Library (Billerica, MA).

Photo of Don Hammontree

Don Hammontree

Don Hammontree.  March 31 – April 30.

Biography
Hailing from Central Illinois, Don Hammontree is a Salem, Massachusetts-based artist, photographer, musician and writer. His photographs and colorful paintings, which tend to focus on streetscapes, architecture and vintage automobiles, have been displayed throughout New England, in exhibits and shows stretching from Salem, Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, New Bedford, and Fall River in Massachusetts to Newport, Providence and Pawtucket in Rhode Island.

As a musician, Hammontree is a regular presence on the local music circuit, performing original material from his three solo records in venues across Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. His latest project, Why England Slept, has just released its debut album, “House of Pizza.”

Artist Statement
“When it comes to my artwork, there are three personal traits of mine that are usually reflected in it, though not necessarily all at once. Firstly, I’ve got a vivid imagination. As an example, I’m fascinated by older cars and how their front and rear-end designs almost mirror human expressions – the headlights resemble eyes; a bumper may reflect a smile. There’s also a sense of deep curiosity – I’ll often seek out buildings in a new city that have unique (though not necessarily pretty) architectural details for inspiration, or I’ll search street-view sites online for interesting scenes of places I’ve never been. And lastly, I have a strong memory – if so moved, I’ll try to re-create scenes from my past that I find special or inspiring with as many details as I can recall. I’m very much motivated by these three things and the attempt to reflect them on canvas. It’s always exciting for me to see how my paintings and ideas behind them are going to turn out. They may not always end up the way I originally envisioned them, but I always usually find something about them that’s unique and interesting.”
