Unearth a Story Kids Logo.

Saturday, June 27 – Saturday, August 15

This year we’re counting days instead of minutes or pages. It’s simple. Did you read today? Then add it to your log! Your goal is to read at least a little bit every day this summer. We recommend reading at least 15-20 minutes a day.

Register
Sign up online or sign up in person at the library to enroll in WPL Children’s Summer Reading Challenge. Registrations will start on June 27th!

  • If you sign up online please be sure to stop by the library to pick up your registration kit!
  • When you register you will receive a reading log and summer reading necklace

Track Your Progress
Log each day that you read until August 15 and earn prizes along the way. Stop by the library throughout the summer to track your progress.

  • Older kids will get to pick one bead per day on their reading log.
  • Babies and Toddlers will pick out one rubber ducky for each week of participation.

Bonus Prizes
Read at least 40 days during our Summer Reading program to win:

  • Available for all ages: a raffle ticket for a chance to win Canobie Lake tickets or a gift card to Dave and Buster’s
  • Available for grades K-5 ONLY: Topsfield Fair Read & Win Prize Package (1 admission ticket, 1 hot dog & drink voucher, 2 ride tickets)

Kids (babies through grade 5).
No library card required.
You do not need to be a Woburn resident.

All reading and activities must occur within the program dates between June 27 and August 15. You MUST bring in your calendar and show it to a librarian in person before August 15th in order to be eligible for the 40-day prizes.

No exceptions!

Format doesn’t matter – books, audiobooks, magazines, eBooks, etc. are all good.
Whether it’s reading a graphic novel, magazine, or listening to an audiobook, it counts!
All reading must occur within the program dates.

Follow Tanner the Bull and his friends this summer as they travel around Woburn! Find them all and write down the secret code words in your passport. Bring your passport with you to the library and show the librarian the secret code words to get extra beads and a chance to be entered into a special Tanner’s Travels Raffle!

Check our Instagram or Facebook each week for picture clues to help you find Tanner and his six friends. You can follow Tanner & Friends just for fun, or track your sightings to earn extra rewards (an extra bead or ducky AND entry into a special Tanner’s Travels raffle).

Here are some extra clues to help you in your search:

  1. Tanner loves to start the summer by checking out a good book!
  2. Tessa is interested in becoming Mayor of Woburn someday.
  3. Tina loves a hot chocolate and pastry in the morning.
  4. Tiny Tony loves tacos more than anyone!
  5. Tori is excited to do some clay crafts this summer.
  6. Travis will be ordering and eating pizza nonstop.
  7. Ty is probably the biggest fan of Chinese food in Woburn.

Good luck hunting!
