How it Works
The Woburn Public Library accepts 3D print jobs from the public! Whether you are interested in printing a custom design or a design posted online, we are happy to help. Please fill out the submission form to the best of your abilities. Comments and questions may be submitted on the last section of the form or emailed to [email protected].

Files must be submitted in .STL format, whether they are uploaded to the form or linked from a website. If submitting multiple files, please only submit the form once per project. Please ensure that all necessary files are at the link provided or are uploaded in the same submission. If you need to upload more than ten files, please email [email protected] for instruction.

Even a small object can take hours to print! Typically, we can have your object printed in a week, but it may take longer depending on queue length. Upon receipt of submission, our Makerspace team will respond to you with an estimate of turnaround time if possible and any questions.

Cost
We offer $5 in free printing per patron per month.

There is a $0.50 minimum cost per print job, with a $0.10 cost per gram above 5 grams. Any necessary support structures are included in the cost. Upon submission you will be provided with a cost estimate, subject to change when the object is weighed after printing.

Patrons will not be charged for failed print jobs. If a print jobs fails, it will be attempted a second time before we contact you saying that the job cannot be completed as submitted. If changes are made to the design the library will attempt to print the job again.

Pickup
You will be notified via email when your print job is ready for pick up and provided with the final cost of the item. Objects will be held behind our main floor circulation desk for one month before being recycled. At the circulation desk, please provide your name and a brief description of your item, including color.

Payment is due at pick up in the form of bills or coins. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS.

Limitations
We cannot accept jobs that take longer than 10 hours to print. This is to ensure that prints can be completed during library open hours.

Patrons are limited to 12 hours of printing per week to ensure fair and equal use of the 3D printers for all. Exceptions may be allowed, depending on print queue.

While we estimate your wait time, the Library makes no commitment to being able to produce print submissions in a specific timeframe.

Support structures must be removed by the patron. The Library will not remove necessary support structures.

The Woburn Public Library 3D printers and related equipment may only be used for lawful purposes in compliance with library policies. Patrons may not upload, transmit, display, or create content that violates any law, privacy or property right.

Please be aware that prints themselves may occur within public view and that the library does not make any promise that any particular print will not be seen by members of the public.

The library reserves the right to refuse to print a job for any reason.
