Woburn Public Library is closed on Monday, October 14, in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

On Tuesday, September 13, 2021 the Woburn Library Board of Trustees appointed Ms. Hermayne Gordon Director of the Woburn Public Library. In March, Hermayne assumed the role of Interim Assistant Director under Chuck Flaherty, who was appointed Interim Director at that time. On August 3rd Hermayne was then appointed Acting Director and last night was officially appointed the Library Director. Ms. Gordon’s appointment is a positive step and promises to keep the WPL as a vibrant part of the Woburn community. The WPL team are delighted that is finally official!

Before coming to the Woburn Public Library in 2018, Ms. Gordon served as Head of Youth Services for the Rowley Public Library for almost 10 years. She has worked in Public Libraries for almost 20 years working in Burlington before going to work in Rowley. She was thrilled to come to work in Woburn which has been her home for almost 30 years and where she and her husband raised their five sons. She has her Master’s degree in Library Science and brings years of leadership experience to her role as Director. She has lots of community connections and looks forward to strengthening those and building new ones. The past two years have been challenging for all of us and particularly difficult for the library staff. The show of community support was key to keeping staff going during turbulent times. Hermayne and her team are looking forward to serving every area of our community. Join us in congratulating Ms. Gordon in her official post.
